Hi, love the site and all the pictures, thank you. I left in December 1973 to come to Australia and have many fond memories of being a teenager in Pollokshaws with good friends, some who I am still in touch with. My best wishes to all..Ronnie

I used to live at 180 shawhill rd which was at the end of greenview st and corner of dovecote. We lived above the painters shop owned by william adam. I had seen plenty of old photos of the front of the building and was quite surprised to find one of the backyard in the mitchell library.the backyard as you know is the grassed area running from the stag pub round to the chaple steps.mt ancestors lived at potterfield being miners and others eventually lived in pollok st king st main st.If anyone knows exactly where the lochinch coal pit was I be grateful

Superb site brought back a lot of memories, especially Shawholm crescent. I was living there when some of the pictures were taken.

Hi, I just came accross your web site. It certainly brought back memories. I lived at 56 Haggs road, opposite Crow Hamilton, latterly Dollar Rae. I grew up in 60s Pollok. I hope to see more photographs on your site in the future. Do you have any of haggs road? My memories include Mr Nicol's grocery store at the end of Haggs road, Miss (Mrs) Millars grogery round the corner in Pollokshaws road and Dominics Fish & Chips in the Arcade. I live in South Africa now but still come back to the UK regularly but I haven't seen the 'Shaws in alost 30 years. From your description it sounds as though it's going through a tough time. Anyway many thanks for a trip down memory lane.
Kind regards Gordon (Maxwell)

I have taken the time to read all facets of the history of Pollokshaws and find it very illuminating. I wonder if you have thought of mentioning Pollock football club at Newlandsfield and their history and success. Just a thought.

This site brought back so many memories of my childhood in Pollokshaws, from the Sunday school at Greenview Hall to the Guildry at United Free Church and chips at the townshouse. Congratulations to all concerned.
